Recipe: Condensed Milk “Truffles”

I’ve always wondered what you could do with condensed milk. In an on-line search I discovered this ¬†recipe from the Brown Eyed Baker.com. These were very popular on MAD in March, 2017.

These are sweet, so small is good (you can always have a second one). Amounts are approximative and very forgiving. Use what you have, adding more condensed milk if the mixture is too dry to form a ball. Consider adding some dried tart cherries or chopped dark chocolate to play off the sweetness of the dates and condensed milk.

Number of ingredients: 5
Time: about 30 minutes start-to-finish
Yield: plenty, around 60

1 1/2 c. pecan pieces or chopped walnuts
1 c. graham cracker crumbs (or try substituting rolled oats?)
1 c. + shredded unsweetened coconut
1 c. chopped dried dates
1 can sweetened condensed milk
Optional: dried tart cherries or dark chocolate for a sweet/tart combination

  1. Mix dry ingredients in a bowl. Add about 3/4 cup of condensed milk and stir. The mixture will be stiff. Add more condensed milk as needed to get a consistency that will hold a shape.
  2. Using a generous teaspoon of mixture, roll in to balls about 3/4″ in diameter with your hands.
  3. Roll in extra shredded coconut to coat.
  4. Place on waxed paper. Store in an airtight container.
